HALF WAY HOME
Lou was still in the recovery room when we got to the hospital this morning but had some great nurses. By the time we got there they had fed her breakfast. Mary Kathryn and I visited with her for a while and went to get our breakfast. When we got back she was sleeping soundly. We waited a while and MK decided to go ahead with her plans to volunteer at Cook Children's for the morning. I stayed with Lou waiting for the doctor to come by and release her like he did the last time she had this surgery. Her oncologist was doing surgery this morning and walked by a couple of times to wave at her. Dr. Siadati was in surgery at Baylor and had another one scheduled at 2 in Harris. We hoped he could come by to look at her and release her before noon. He didn't but the recovery room nurse called his office to get permission to remove the IV and let her go to a hospital room about 12:30. They had to get her out to permit the other recovery patients to come in. We waited in the room and I finally called again and the office called back saying to let her go home about 3:30 and MK drove us home. We will spend the night and drive home tomorrow.
